Color Sequence
Watch the colored pads light up, then tap them back in the same order. Every round adds one more color.
Press Start, watch the pattern, then repeat it.
How to play
Press Start. One pad lights up and plays a note. Tap the same pad. Next round, the same color lights up again, followed by a new one, and you repeat both. The pattern grows by one step every round, and it plays a little faster as you go. One wrong tap ends the game.
How to remember longer patterns
- Chunk it. Group the pattern into sets of three or four, like a phone number: “green-red-blue, yellow-yellow-green”.
- Use the sounds. Each pad has its own note. Many players find a short tune easier to remember than a list of colors.
- Name the places. Think “top left, bottom right” instead of colors if that suits you better.
- Stay relaxed. Rushing causes most mistakes. You have plenty of time to tap.
Why this game is good practice
Repeating a growing sequence uses working memory, the short-term memory we use to follow directions or keep a number in mind for a moment. Most people can hold around seven items at once, so reaching level 8 or more is a good result. Practice and chunking let many players go well beyond that.
Play together
This is a fun game to share. Take turns, or let one person watch the pads while another listens to the notes, and see which method works better.
